For the fourth time, “The Match” has returned.

The golf event that started in 2018 as a head-to-head event against Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will be revived on June 6 for a matchup of golfer/quarterback duos.

Once again, Mickelson will team up with Buccaneers signal-caller Tom Brady in a two-man group. They’ll take on one of golf’s up-and-coming stars, Bryson DeChambeau, who will be paired with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.

And Brady has already started up with the trash talk. It began with a jab at Rodgers not wanting to go for longer shots, which runs counter to the strategy of DeChambeau, who averages a PGA Tour-leading 322.5 yards per drive.

Then, Brady used a meme of Brooks Koepka and DeChambeau to poke fun at his opposition pairing.

This was pretty funny stuff from Brady, especially considering that the image of DeChambeau annoying his rival Koepka was one of the most memorable highlights from the 2021 PGA Championship.

Of course, Mickelson’s win at the major topped that. At 50, he became the oldest major winner in golf history with a mark of -6 on the tournament. Meanwhile, DeChambeau finished tied for 38th in that tournament after shooting +3 on the final day and +5 overall.

As for their partners, Brady is coming off his seventh Super Bowl win. He doesn’t golf a lot but logged a low-card score of 82 in May 2014, per Golf Digest.

Rodgers is a solid golfer who finished in 16th place at a celebrity golf tournament in 2020. And maybe amid his rift with the Packers, he has had more time to golf. After all, he’s not attending OTAs this year and was just in Hawaii.

Either way, this should be a fun event and it will be interesting to see which side emerges victorious. Since DeChambeau hits the ball so hard and Rodgers has an edge on Brady in the golf game, DeChambeau’s pairing may have the advantage.

But as we learned at Super Bowl 54 and the 2021 PGA Championship, you can’t count Brady and Mickelson out — ever.
